It happened in Porto Alegre this week, the Wind of Change business event to debate and promote an exchange of ideas about renewable energy generation in Brazil and in the world. The event had representatives from the government, investment banks, entrepreneurs of the sector, public and private investors, among
others.
The Chief Representative of NBSO Porto Alegre Richard Posma was one of the speakers at the event and he had the opportunity to share with the public the experience of the Kingdom of Netherlands in the development of offshore wind and green hydrogen. Also present at the event representatives from the United States, United Kingdom, and Uruguay.
Posma presented data about the Dutch reality, including Dutch solutions in the field of offshore- and nearshore wind energy that can also be applied in Brazil. Offshore wind energy will enable the transition to a carbon-free energy supply. The Dutch plans regarding the development of green hydrogen were also presented, where the Netherlands wants to further deploy its existing knowledge and expertise, to take the lead in generating new attractive and viable solutions. He also mentioned the Dutch experience in aligning development and nature preservation.
“To achieve national and international climate objectives, the Dutch use their long-time experience to preserve the environment as well as to work with nature.”
Posma ended his lecture mentioning the multi annual program Green Ports Partnership. The program is collaborating in a coherent approach in order to make a bigger impact, build strong relationships and generate business opportunities in the Brazilian market. The goal is to connect and support Dutch- and Brazilian
companies with a strong focus on sustainable and innovative development in ports; terminals and port related energy projects (offshore & and nearshore wind and green hydrogen), in close cooperation with relevant Brazilian stakeholders in order to support both economies.
NBSO Porto Alegre is one of the initiators and supporters of the Green Ports Partnership Program, that includes Ports of Paranaguá and Rio Grande. Posma and the Deputy representative Lucila Almeida head up the work in the South Region of Brazil together with Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). Lucila also accompanied the panels during the Wind of Change.
