To introduce business opportunities in the area of ports and renewable energies in Southern Brazil to the Dutch companies SBM Offshore and Strohm was one of the objectives of the visit of the Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO) Porto Alegre team to Rio de Janeiro. The Netherlands has unquestionable experience and know-how of centuries in the maritime logistics sector, an expertise that is extremely valuable to Brazil.
At SBM Offshore the chief representative Richard Posma and the deputy representative Lucila Almeida, from NBSO Porto Alegre, were hosted by Alessandro Zunino, Rafael Torres, Luciana Passos. Also attended the meeting the representative of the General Consulate of Rio de Janeiro, Renata Ferreira. The company has consistent experience in offshore wind energy and large experience on the offshore market. The company is one of the main players worldwide in the construction of FPSO (Floating Unit of Production, Storage and Transference).
At Strohm, the NBSO Porto Alegre was welcomed by Renato Bastos and Francisco Viana. The company developed an unique high performance solution for renewable energy and carbon footprint reduction. The Thermoplastic Composed Pipe (TCP) is a flexible pipe with capacity of supporting high pressures in deep water without corrosion or deformity, besides being highly malleable and able to modulate. Those features of durability, of at last 70 years, warrants low maintenance costs in short and long term, assuring also low carbon footprint.
In addition to the excellent meetings another reason for the NSBO Porto Alegre to come to Rio de Janeiro was to join a regular personal meeting program with the Dutch Diplomatic Economic Network in Brazil. Representatives from the five posts gathers together, at least once a year, to debate strategies and the annual planning.
