Dutch Business Support Office (NBSO) re-opened in Porto Alegre

On the 30th of August 2018, The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil has re-opened a new Netherlands Business Support Office (NBSO) in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Festivities August 30

The NBSO was officially opened by the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil Mr. Kees van Rij; and Manager of the Netherlands Economic Attachés Network of the Netherlands Enterprice Agency (RVO), Mr. Chris Baaré; Minister Plenipotentiary at the Dutch Embassy, Mr. Roderick Wols, President of the Federation of Industries (FIERGS CIERGS), Mr. Gilberto Porcello Petry; and Deputy Secretary of the Municipality of Porto Alegre, Mr. Fernando Freire Dutra.

The office was opened in the presence of Mrs. Henriette Bersee, Consul General in São Paulo, and Mrs. Ingrid de Kroes, Honorary Consul of the Netherlands in Porto Alegre.

Seminar: Opportunities for Brazilian and Dutch companies to flourish

After the official opening of the new NBSO office, located at Avenida Carlos Gomes 222 in Porto Alegre, a seminar was held, organized by the NBSO in cooperation with FIERGS. The new Dutch ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Kees van Rij, opened the seminar emphasizing the great potential of cooperation between Brazilian and Dutch organizations. Consequently, new Chief Representative of the NBSO in Porto Alegre, Mr. Richard Posma presented areas where cooperation between Brazilian and Dutch companies could explicitly flourish, presenting examples in Agri-business, Health Care, Energy and New Technologies. Mr. Posma emphasized that there are many other sectors with excellent prospects for cooperation between Brazilian and Dutch organizations.

Mr. Marco Miranda Guimarães spoke about the possibilities to innovate the port area and Mr. Franklin Sternberg showed the progress of the prestigious Amsterland project.

In the evening, the closing of the festivities came with a cocktail party for guests at the residence of Honorary consul Mrs. Ingrid de Kroes. Special attention and gratitude went to Mr. Luiz Bueno de Freitas Filho, who worked for the NBSO in Porto Alegre for 20 years and who has reached the age of retirement.

NBSO Porto Alegre Brazil is a non-diplomatic office of the Dutch government, administrated by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO in Dutch) of the ministry of Economic Affairs. The NBSO re-opened in Porto Alegre with the aim of providing support services to Dutch companies looking for business opportunities, innovative cooperation, investments and locations as well helping them find business partners, in the South of Brazil, and more particularly in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Parana and Santa Catharina.

Together with the Economic Departments of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brasília and the Consulates-General in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, NBSO forms the Dutch Economic Network in Brazil. The Economic Network provides products, services and tailormade information to Dutch companies, organisations, knowledge institutes and higher education institutions in support of their operations in Brazil. The NBSO also operates as the first port of call for Brazilian companies wishing to expand their business to the Netherlands.
