Invest in Belo Horizonte in 2015 – Programme GOAL BELO!

The municipaliy of Belo Horizonte launches the GOAL BELO programme to attract foreign companies to invest in and develop business with Belo Horizonte.

The investment attraction and trade promotion programme of the city aims to  attract foreign investment, promote Belo Horizonte commercially and support the set of activities that have been developed on behalf of the internationalisation of the city. The programme is launched through the Deputy Secretariat for International Relations of the Secretariat for Economic Development. GOAL BELO will focus on specific areas, combining efforts of governmental institutions, business and the cultural agenda, and will present incentives for foreign companies to come to Belo Horizonte. Besides local government and business, the Federation of Industries (FIEMG) and academic institutions will also be involved in the outline of the programme. GOAL BELO is supported by the Federal Goverment and by the government of the State of Minas Gerais.

The greater Belo Horizonte area has aproximately 5,5 million inhabitants, forming Brazil´s third metropolitan area. The city is strategically located in the Southeast region, in the middle of the triangle São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. The city counts with an extensive infrastruture. The international airport of Belo Horizonte in Confins will receive further investments to transform itself into a logistic hub, the so called areotrópolis Belo Horizonte. The state of Minas Gerais of which Belo Horizonte is the capital, is famous for its extraction of minerals, including iron ores. Brazilian international companies are estabelished in Minas, such as Vale and Petrobras. But also international companies such as Fiat, which has its only Brazilian production plant of Fiat vehicles located in the Belo Horizonte area. The State of Minas Gerais is aiming at further improving  and extending its road infrastructure, creating dry ports in the state and investing in New Economy.
