Minas Gerais & The Netherlands jointly organise a Round Table on Water Usage & Management. The round table will take place on Monday 30 March and is being organised by the Secretariat of Science, Technology & Higher Education of the State of Minas Gerais – SECTES and the Dutch Network in Brazil through the Netherlands Business Support Office – NBSO Brazil in Belo Horizonte.

The Water Footprint Network is invited by the Dutch Network to the round table to present its Water Footprint methodology, developed in the Netherlands. The objective of the event is to open a discussion on water usage and management between the main actors in Water in the state of Minas Gerais, based on the Water Footprint approach and other practises. The Dutch company Arcadis, present in Brazil through its subsidiary Arcadis-Logos, will share its experiences in consultancy on Sustainable Water Management. On the Brazilian side the State Sanitation Company – COPASA, the State Institute of Water Management – IGAM and the Municipality of Belo Horizonte will present current projects and policies on Water Usage and Management.

The Round Table is hosted by the Secretary of Science, Technology & Higher Education of the State of Minas Gerais, Mr Miguel Côrrea, who will welcome and lead the event on behalf of the Government of the State of Minas Gerais. The Secretary will be joined by Mr Sandro Veríssimo Oliveira de Miranda from the Secretariat of Planning & Management – SEPLAG. On behalf of the Government of the Netherlands the participants will be welcomed by the Consul-General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Rio de Janeiro, Mr Arjen Uijterlinde.

After the presentations, a discussion session will be held with participation of the mentioned public institutions and organs of government, together with the Federation of Industry of Minas Gerais – FIEMG, the Federation of Agriculture of Minas Gerais – FAEMG and several mining companies such as Samarco, AngloAmerican and Usiminas.
