🇳🇱🇧🇷 🌱 PART 1: TRADE MISSION PRECISION AGRICULTURE AND CLIMATE ADAPTATION TO THE SOUTH OF BRAZIL

From 13 to 17 July, a delegation of Dutch companies*⬇️, universities, and experts visited Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil, for an intensive programme focused on precision agriculture, climate adaptation, and international cooperation.

The delegation brought together Ag Leader Technology, AgroCares, Doktar Technologies, Farm24, FarmTree B.V., Koppert, RH3S, the ITC Faculty of the University of Twente, and Wageningen University & Research (WUR), under the leadership of Inge Horstmeier, Counsellor for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security and Nature at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Brazil.

🔸 Monday | Knowledge Exchange and Collaboration
The programme began with a welcome session at the NBSO Porto Alegre office, followed by participation in the International Conference on Precision Agriculture (ICPA). Researchers, companies, and institutions came together to discuss the latest trends, innovation, and opportunities for international cooperation.

🔸 Tuesday | Matchmaking for Business Opportunities
One of the mission’s most strategic activities was a series of matchmaking meetings involving Dutch companies, Brazilian cooperatives, universities, startups, and other organizations. Far beyond institutional presentations, these meetings created concrete opportunities for business development, applied research, pilot projects, and technological cooperation—transforming knowledge exchange into long-term partnerships.

🔸 Wednesday | Orange Dialogues
The headquarters of Federação da Agricultura do Rio Grande do Sul – Farsul hosted the Orange Dialogues – Connecting Brazil and the Netherlands for Smart and Sustainable Agriculture, bringing together government representatives, universities, producers, and companies from both countries to discuss the future of agriculture, addressing key topics such as water management and digital innovation. The event opened with a video message from Wieneke Vullings, Consul General 🇳🇱 in São Paulo.

Domingos Lopes, President of FARSUL, highlighted Brazil’s strategic role in global food security, its strong potential in bioenergy and sustainable production, and the importance of precision agriculture in increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and strengthening the competitiveness of the sector.

🇳🇱🤝🇧🇷🥬🍊 In her remarks, Inge Horstmeier emphasized that Brazil and the Netherlands—celebrating 200 years of diplomatic relations in 2026—bring highly complementary strengths. While Brazil is a global food production powerhouse, the Netherlands is internationally recognized for innovation, technology, and applied research. According to her, by combining knowledge, entrepreneurship, and collaboration among companies, governments, and universities, both countries can accelerate the development of an agricultural sector that is increasingly productive, resilient, and, above all, sustainable.
